Introductions

Chairman Becker called the meeting to order at approximately 4:25 p.m. on 27 January 2003. Everyone present introduced themselves. The list of those in attendance is provided on the cover sheet of the Minutes. A list that also includes affiliations is provided as Attachment 1.

Handbook Liaison Report – Bill McCartney

The submission dates for review/revision of handbook chapters were reviewed. The technical content of the handbook chapters should be improved, and the chapters should be user friendly. The 2004 edition of the handbook CD will contain all four volumes, and revision will be continuous.

Approval of January 2002 Minutes

The minutes of the June 2002 meeting were approved.

Research Report – Bryan R. Becker

TC 10.9 has received an un-solicited proposal, 1294-URP, “Improving Process Effectiveness and Energy Use in Industrial-Scale Strawberry Cooling,” which requires review. The Proposal Evaluation Subcommittee will consist of Gordon E. Follette (Chair), George C. Briley and Todd B. Jekel. Technical papers have been submitted for RP-834, RP-1123 and RP-1138.

Membership Report – Bryan R. Becker

The roster of TC10.9 was reviewed and updated. Several corresponding members were reinstated as voting members.

Handbook Report – Evans J. Lizardos

Chapter 23 of the Refrigeration Handbook should be forwarded to Rex Noble for review. TC 10.9 has made good progress toward the revision of the chapters for the 2006 edition of the Refrigeration Handbook.

Program Report – Brian J. Webb

B. Webb has a firm commitment from three individuals for a refrigeration applications seminar..Standards Report A motion was made to withdraw Standard 18-1987. The motion was seconded and passed with a vote of 5 for, 0 against, 0 abstain.

Old Business

No old business was brought before the committee.

New Business

G. Mastro discussed ASHRAE’s “Report of Presidential Ad Hoc Committee for Building Health and Safety under Extraordinary Incidents.”

Chairman Becker adjourned the meeting at 5:20 p.m. on 27 January 2003.
