RAC Research Liaison Report - Martha J. Hewett
A work statement should be written for the RTAR on "Development of a Protocol to Accurately Determine the Base Refrigeration Load for Spiral and Straight Belt Freezers."
1123-RP Status: A technical paper and the final report should be submitted for 1123-RP. B. Becker, PI for 1123-RP, stated that a technical paper for this project has been submitted to the HVAC&R Research Journal and the final report should be completed by 1 March 2002.
1138-RP Status: A technical paper for the HVAC&R Research Journal and the final report have been submitted.
834-RP Status: Al Heber, PI for 834-RP, has not yet submitted a technical paper for this project. B. Webb spoke with A. Heber recently in an effort to get him to submit a technical paper for 834-RP and to set up a symposium for the Honolulu meeting.
M. Hewett reported that research funds are tight for the 2001-2002 year, with only $350,000 available to fund projects. The deadline for submitting RTARS is 10 May 2002. The Board is discouraging TC members from bidding on research projects. Data regarding the performance of PI's will now be kept.
Standards Liaison Report - J. Richard Wright
R. Wright asked the members of TC 10.9 if they would like to withdraw, revise or approve Standard 18 on drinking water. The general consensus of the TC members was that the standard should be withdrawn. R. Wright would like an official recorded vote and it was suggested that the standard be copied and distributed to TC members for an electronic vote.
Program Report - Brian J. Webb
B. Webb reminded TC members of Seminar 40, "Refrigeration Applications," to be held on Wednesday, 16 January 2002. B. Webb would welcome program ideas from the TC members.
Research Report - Gordon E. Follette (absent)
TC 10.9 has a prioritized RTAR, "Development of a Protocol to Accurately Determine the Base Refrigeration Load for Spiral and Straight Belt Freezers," and a work statement should now be written.
Membership Report - Bryan R. Becker
B. Becker provided a handout of the TC 10.9 roster and committee assignments, effective after the June 2002 meeting.
Handbook Report - Evans J. Lizardos
Gideon Zeidler would like to include a discussion on food service in the Refrigeration Handbook. This topic could possibly be included as a section of Chapter 26.
The TC Handbook Survey, which will be used by ASHRAE to gather input from TCs regarding the continuous update of the handbooks, was discussed.
E. Lizardos announced that all 18 handbook chapters under the control of TC 10.9 are ready for publication. In addition, E. Lizardos noted that if a handbook chapter is not reviewed by the TC, then it must be sent out for external review. Also, the TC should assign handbook chapters to its members for the purpose of managing the review of those chapters.
