1998 ASHRAE Summer Meeting in Toronto, Ontario
June 23, 1998
- Approved minutes of past meeting, 1/26/98
- Chairman Humm reports from liaison meeting IARW, January 23, that the warehouse group has a shrinking member base due to consolidation. Investor groups are investor real estate groups, not necessarily distributors/operators (approximately 800 members).
- Refrigeration Chairman meeting notes:
- Members will be paid $100 for journal articles.
- Speaker registration fees will be $85 - no longer free.
- TC members are to "bridge" with local chapters.
- Joy Altweis and Daniel Dettmers, student and researcher from the University of Wisconsin, are interested in committee membership. They were able to advise that work begun for cheese, ice cream and vegetable storage, and explain some aspects of the unsolicited proposal #1107URP.
- TC 10.5 committee reviewed proposal fro #1107URP "Passive Thermal Storage Techniques for Refrigerated Warehouses" (Altweis and Dettmers were excused from the room during the review process). Approved 8/0/0.
- Brian Webb, Program Chairman, to arrange seminars co-sponsored with TC 10.8 "Efficient Cold Storage Facility" for the Chicago meeting. The seminar is to be titled "A Guide to the Refrigeration Engineer for Implementation of HACCP in Refrigerated Food System Design", Brian Webb, moderator.
- The 1998 Handbook errata to be prepared for the Chicago meeting. All committee members are asked to proof the 1998 version of Chapters 10 and 13 and provide comments by the Chicago meeting.
- Kent Anderson (President IIAR) expressed interest to join committee.
- Discussion of “Best Practices” was tabled until next meeting. Committee was to see if research project might be developed to support initialization of this new "guide."
